VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve Removal, Installation, and Test

NOTE: Although a numbered sequence is shown, these "*1" indicated parts are separate components. If removal or replacement of one of the components is needed, it is not necessary to remove the other.

VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve

1. VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve - Remove


2. All Removed Parts - Install

Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring.

Coat the new O-ring with clean engine oil.
Clean and dry the mating surface of the valve.

VTC Strainer

1. VTC Strainer - Remove


2. All Removed Parts - Install

Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new filter.

1. VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve - Test

Check for any blockage in the ports of the VTC oil control solenoid valve.

Connect VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1 to the 12 volt battery positive terminal with a jumper wire:
Connect VTC oil control solenoid valve 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2 to the 12 volt battery negative terminal with a jumper wire:





3.
Measure the clearance of the valve (A). The clearance should be at least 1.2 mm (0.047 in).

If the clearance is as specified, the valve is OK; reinstall it with a new O-ring (B).
If the clearance is not as specified, install a new valve and O-ring.
