EVAP System Removal, Installation, and Test

Flammable - Keep Fire Away

NOTE:
Refer to the Fuel and Emissions Systems Service Precautions before disconnecting the fuel line.
Fuel may cause flammable gas leaks and may result in fire. Keep sparks, flame and cigarettes away.
Although a numbered sequence is shown, these "*1" indicated parts are separate components. If removal or replacement of one of the components is needed, it is not necessary to remove the other.

Non-Return Valve Inspection

1. EVAP Canister Purge Valve Hose - Disconnect

Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve hoses (A).

3. Non-return Valve - Inspection

Non-Return Valve A (Intake Manifold Side)

Non-Return Valve B (Turbocharger Side)

1.
Select the PGM-FI system with the HDS.

2.
Select the INSPECTION MENU, then select EVAP TEST (ELCM), and follow the screen prompts.

3.
Select the Single Solenoid Test, then select PCS ON, and follow the screen prompts.

4.
Connect the vacuum pump (A) to the EVAP canister purge valve (B) as shown.

5.
Apply vacuum to the valve.

If it holds vacuum, replace the EVAP canister purge valve.
If it doesn’t hold the vacuum, go to next step.





Non-Return Valve A (Intake Manifold Side)

Non-Return Valve B (Turbocharger Side)

6.
Connect the vacuum pump (A) to the EVAP canister purge valve (B) as shown.

7.
Apply pressure to the valve.

If it holds pressure, the EVAP canister purge valve is OK.
If it doesn’t hold the pressure, replace the EVAP canister purge valve.
