Cylinder Head Cover Removal and Installation
3. Breather Hose and PCV Hose - Disconnect

1.
Disconnect the breather hose (A) and the PCV hose (B).

4. Harness Holder - Remove

Remove the harness clamps (A).

2.
Disconnect the connectors (B) and the positive alternator cable (C).

Remove the harness clamps (A).





4.
Remove the connector clamp (A) and the harness holder (B).

6. Cylinder Head Cover - Remove


1. Cylinder Head Cover - Install


1.
Check the spark plug seals for damage. If any seals are damaged, replace it.

2.
Thoroughly clean the head cover gasket (A) and the groove of the cylinder head cover (B).

NOTE: Check and, if necessary, replace the head cover gasket.

3.
Install the head cover gasket in the groove of the cylinder head cover. Make sure the head cover gasket is seated securely.






4.
Apply liquid gasket, on the chain case and the high pressure fuel pump base or the side cover mating areas.

5.
Set the spark plug seals (A) on the spark plug tubes. Place the cylinder head cover (B) on the cylinder head, then slide the cover slightly back and forth to seat the head cover gasket.

6.
Inspect the spark plug seals for damage.





7.
Tighten the bolts in two steps. In the final step torque bolts, in sequence, to 7.0 N·m (0.71 kgf·m, 5.2 lbf·ft).

NOTE:
Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
Do not run the engine for at least 3 hours after installing the head cover.

3. Harness Holder - Install

Install the connector clamp (A) and the harness holder (B).





2.
Install the harness clamps (A).






3.
Connect the connectors (A) and the positive alternator cable (B). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the alternator when you connect it.

4.
Install the harness clamps (C).

4. Breather Hose and PCV Hose - Connect

Connect the breather hose (A) and the PCV hose (B).
