EPS Motor/Control Unit Removal and Installation

Replace

1. EPS Motor/Control Unit - Install


1.
Install a new O-ring (A) to the EPS motor/control unit (B).

NOTE: Apply steering grease to the O-ring if necessary.

2.
Check the rubber bush (C) and motor bush (D) for damage and cracks. If the rubber bush and motor bush are cracked, replace the rubber bush and motor bush.

NOTE: If the rubber bush and motor bush are removed, apply steering grease to the rubber bush and motor bush, then install them to the EPS motor/control unit.

3.
Install the EPS motor/control unit, but do not install the mounting bolts.

4.
Turn the EPS motor/control unit two or three times to the right and left about 45 degrees.

5.
Loosely install the EPS motor/control unit mounting bolts (E) by hand but do not tighten.

NOTE: Make sure the EPS motor/control unit is evenly seated.

6.
Tighten the EPS motor/control unit mounting bolts to the specified torque.

3. EPS Control Unit Software - Check

1.
Make sure the EPS control unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the EPS control unit.

5. EPS System - Check

1.
After installation, check these items:

Start the engine, allow it to idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
