* (SPX 10243/07AAA-TGVA100): Adaptive Speed Control Alignment Tool SPX 10243 or ADJUSTER, RADAR 3.5MM 07AAA-TGVA100 can be used for aiming.

NOTE:
The millimeter wave radar must be re-aimed if the millimeter wave radar is removed or replaced. The ACC indicator comes on if the aiming process is not completed correctly:

?
The millimeter wave radar has a self-diagnosis function and if the mounting angle of the millimeter wave radar is outside of the horizontal auto-aiming range, it stores the failure information.

If DTCs are indicated, do the indicated DTCs first. If the DTCs are not repaired, you cannot complete the millimeter wave radar aiming procedure. However, if you have the following DTC, proceed with the aiming procedure.

?
Millimeter Wave Radar Aiming Incomplete: DTC P2583-54

If the vehicle you are aiming was involved in a collision or if you suspect the alignment is out of specifications, you must perform a wheel alignment prior to aiming the millimeter wave radar.
Conditions for the aiming environment:

?
Aiming should be on level ground in a wide open space to avoid errors caused by reflecting objects.
?
Amount of space require in front of the vehicle:
10 m (33 ft) measured from the front bumper
5 m (16 ft) in width
3 m (10 ft) in height, measured from the floor

The vehicle must be parked on a horizontal floor in order to adjust the vertical radar aiming correctly. Check the levelness of the floor surface, but if there is a continuous slope, then adjust the angle of millimeter wave radar so it is parallel to the floor surface. Lay a ruler or other flat straight object on the floor surface and put the level on top to confirm the levelness of the floor surface.
When marking on the floor surface, use suitable tape to mark the exact locations.

Prepare these items:
HDS
Tape measure and ruler
Felt-tip pen
Tape
String

1. Before Aiming - Set

NOTE: Make sure the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead, and do not turn it after setting up the vehicle.

Marking of the Target Position

2.
Place a string (A) between point Z1 and point Y1, and tape both ends of the string on the floor surface.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the opposite side for points Z2 and Y2.

3.
Measure and make a new point B on the floor surface in front of the vehicle, 4,000 mm (157.48 in) from point Z1.

4.
Pull one end of the string to point B and tape it to the floor surface.

NOTE: Repeat these steps for the opposite side, and mark a new point C.

5.
Set the string (A) between point B and point C, and tape both ends of the string on the floor surface.

6.
Route the cord (E) through the collar and place it on the stand set.

7.
Use the stand set to stretch the cord of the center-line, and mark a new point D where the string crosses with the cord.

Type C
8.
Remove the radar cover (A).

NOTE:
Clean the surface of the millimeter wave radar.
If the radar cover is damaged or cracked, replace the cover and inspect the millimeter wave radar assembly and subassembly for any damages before proceeding.

9.
Align the lower edge of the millimeter wave radar with the shaft end.

10.
Draw a line (Y) on the pole of the stand set as shown.

11.
Draw line (Y1) on the pole (A) of the stand set as shown.

12.
Slide the corner reflector (B) upward to position Y1.

2. Millimeter Wave Radar - Aim

1.

NOTE: Keep the aiming target away from the vehicle until you are instructed in a later step.

2.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

NOTE: Troubleshoot any DTCs first before proceeding. If DTC P2583-54 is indicated, proceed with the aiming procedure.

3.
In the DRIVING SUPPORT menu, select INTEGRATED DRIVER SUPPORT SYSTEM, ADJUSTMENT, then Radar Aiming and follow the screen prompts.

4.
Press ENTER on the HDS to enter the aiming mode.

NOTE: ACC, LKAS and RDM indicators (amber) blink when aiming mode is activated.

5.
The MID will display NO TARGET.

NOTE: Some early 2017 models may not indicate NO TARGET in the MID. If the HDS screen indicates "Detected Some Obstacles", refer to the note under step 6. If the HDS screen indicates to set up the target, go to step 7.

6.
Make sure the MID indicates NO TARGET on the display.

NOTE: If NO TARGET is not indicated, the stand set is placed in front of the vehicle or there is an unwanted radar reflection in front of the vehicle in the range of the radar. Make sure the stand set is set aside away from the range of the radar until you are instructed to place it in front of the vehicle. If you are still getting an unwanted radar reflection, stack tires about 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in height in front of either the immovable object, such as a pole, or in front of any object causing the unwanted reflections. The tires will block the radar reflections. Make sure NO TARGET appears on the MID. If it still does not appear, move the vehicle to a different location until NO TARGET appears on the MID.

7.
Place the stand set (A) on the mark (D).

8.
Press ENTER on the HDS to calculate the alignment angles.

NOTE: Some early 2017 models may indicate a message of "Some Driver Assist Systems Cannot Operate: Radar Obstructed" on the MID throughout this procedure. This is normal and can be ignored.

9.
Check the vertical and horizontal alignment angles on the HDS display. If the angles displayed on the HDS are out of the specified angle range, turn the adjustment bolt using the 3.5 mm hex socket driver (from the Adaptive Speed Control Alignment Tool SPX 10243 or 07AAA-TGVA100)) as necessary (counterclockwise or clockwise) to bring the displayed angle to the specified angle range. Watch the HDS display while performing the adjustment as the values will change.

Specified Angle:
Millimeter wave angle
Specified angle range
Horizontal
00.1 deg.
Vertical
00.1 deg.

Adjustment Method:
Angle shown on the HDS display
Rotate the screwdriver as follows
More than ?0.1 deg.
Counterclockwise
Less than ?0.1 deg.
Clockwise

NOTE:
The values on the HDS display will fluctuate as the adjustment is being performed. Wait until the values stabilize to confirm the adjustment.
When checking the angle and recording the calculated angle on the HDS screen, do not enter or obstruct the radar wave zone.
A value of 12.8 degrees on the HDS display indicates that the millimeter wave radar is being obstructed and cannot receive the radar wave.
If the value of 12.8 degrees remains on the HDS screen for 15 seconds continuously, the aiming will stop.
If the specified angle cannot be obtained with the adjustment bolts, confirm the millimeter wave radar mounting position.

NOTE: If the failure code and the message in the following list are displayed, solve the problem, and then perform the millimeter wave radar aiming again.

Failure codes and messages:
