DTC P0501: CVT Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
NOTE:
This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.

1.
Problem verification:

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Raise the vehicle on a lift. Make sure it is securely supported, and allow the front wheels to rotate freely.

Start the engine.

Test-drive the vehicle in D position/mode, and the engine speed at 1,000 rpm or higher, then release the accelerator without pressing it again, for at least 4 seconds. Slow down and stop the wheels.

Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.?

Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the vehicle speed sensor and the PCM, and check for proper installation of the vehicle speed sensor.

Connection and installation are OK. Replace the CVT speed sensor.?

Repair faulty connection or installation.?
